SYMPHONY 2015- Annual Cultural Festival of JDMC

Symphony 2015, an annual cultural fest of Janki Devi Memorial College was celebrated on 4th and 5th February, 2015 with “Colours of Peace” as the theme. The event commenced with prayers and an auspicious ceremony of the lighting of lamps. The event’s chief guest Ms. Sharmila Tagore, an Indian film actress known for her works predominantly in Hindi cinema, received a warm welcome from a zealous crowd. Mr. Hussain, one of the famous directors of the Indian cinema and Ms. Anusha Rizwi, an Indian film director and Screenwriter were also present to add glitter to the celebration with their presence.

The inauguration ceremony was further transfixed by a round of Sufi songs, sung by the members of classical music society of the college. Furthermore, a hypnotizing performance by Euphonie, the Western Music Society of JDMC- left the audience wanting for more. It was followed by the solo dance competition and foot loose- group dance competition. Various other competitions were also held, simultaneously, on day one of the fest. Jingle Writing, Face Painting/ Tee shirt Painting, Photography Competition, Book Jacket Design Competition, Samsrishti- Sanskrit Quiz and Mathematical Pictionary were the events held on the day one of the event. On the second day, more intriguing competitions like Jabberwocky- Turncoat Debate, Bardoratory- Soliloquies in Shakespeare’s plays, Create from waste, Munaadi (street play), piqued the interest of the participants The competitions provided a platform to the students to exhibit their talent, showcase their passion and win exciting cash prizes.

The event ended a note of exhilaration with a rock show by Stereo Nation. An electrifying performance by Stereo Nation made the audience dance to their heart’s content. Ambience of the show was brimming with invigorating music, urging everyone to lose themselves in the beats. The event was a huge success and its last segment acted like a cherry to a fantastic cake.
