If SURLOK had to be given a description, the most expressive thing would be to call it a 3-day journey of sheer madness, frolic, energy, enthusiasm, competitiveness; and most importantly, a phase with omnipresent happiness and bright smiling faces.
SURLOK, the Annual Cultural Fest of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College was held from 17th to 19th February this year. As always, the initial two days were fully packed with competitions and events with participants from not only various colleges of the Delhi University, but also from colleges of IP University and IITs; whereas, the third day, which is marked as the Celebrity Day had one of its most exciting performances of all time by none other than the supremely talented, Guru Randhawa.
Day-1 was scheduled with events like the much hyped Nukkad Naatak, Mad over Ads, Photography, Selfie and Dubsmash Contests, Turban Tying, Creative Writing and Folk Dance. Day-2 had events like Antakshari, Face Painting, On the Spot Dancing and Singing, Quiz Competition, Western Dance and Blind Date. Most of these events had been first experimented with in the Mini Surlok and then were projected in SURLOK. With a huge number of registrations and participation, the events were a massive hit! When on Day-1, the audience intensely observed the street plays, humbly listened to the folk songs and actively went for the selfie contest, on Day-2 they grooved with the western dancers’ teams, penned down their feelings in creative writing contest and had tones of fun in the Blind Date. On Day-3, when Guru Randhawa performed live in front of the pumped up audience, everyone in the crowd went gaga to his numbers like ‘Patola’, ‘Yaar Mod Do’, ‘Khatt’ and many more. The commendable amount of energy put in by the performers as well as the audience was a scene to be noted! After Guru’s performance, was the time for some oh-so-fresh EDM session which was organized by the students of the college itself and it had everyone dancing their hearts out to the loud and bold beats.
These three days, were certainly the most memorable days in the life of all the students, teachers and participants as everything ended on a happy note.
