“Well begun is half done.” Keeping this spirit in mind, the senior students at Sri Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College Delhi University threw a fresher’s party for its freshers at the institutes ground recently. The main challenge of the evening Mr. & Miss Fresher, was selected on the basis of their performances in three different rounds. First, it was an Introduction and Ramp Walk Round followed by a Talent Round and then the Grand finale of “Question-Answer” Round. The panel of judges were enthralled to see the style, elegance and panace of each contestant. Where few took it to poetical lines to introduce themselves, others chose rap-style to present which left a never forgetting impression. The audience was amazed to see the truck loads of talent possessed by the youngest generation. The results were fair to all when Abhay Randhawa and Simran Kaur were entitled as Mr. Fresher’ 14 and Miss Fresher’ 14.
The party started with a tribute to the “Jawaans of Indian Army” by the NCC candidates of the college, followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony of the newly elected Student Union Members in the presence of Dr. Manmohan Kaur, Principal, SGND Khalsa College and other senior teachers. The event was also attended by Mohit Nagar, President, DUSU. Thereafter, the MEGA BASH started off with galore of scintillating cultural performances wherein the band society performed the song Ambarsariya with a surprising twist that grabbed a huge round of applause. All the events were artistically and beautifully presented with zest as well as style. The audience was mesmerized by the mind blowing performances of Western Dance forms. The group dance and performance by Bhangra Society compelled the students to shake their legs. Several other skits and acts kept the mood of the party alive. A Fashion Show was also hosted by the College for the first time. Managed by the Art and Culture Team, students displayed collections by Designer’s Den followed by the theme of Raw Meets Royal.
During the cultural extravaganza, the students were seen in full zeal. The organizers from Art and Culture Society, mentored by Dr. Neeta Dhingra and Dr. I.P. Singh marked a huge success of the event and made sure to make it special for the Fresher’s.
