Gargi College kickstarted its annual cultural festival, Reverie 2k15, on February 11. The three day fest, with the theme ‘Labyrinth of Life’ was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Shashi Tyagi. The main attraction of the event is the ‘Comedy Night’ hosted by stand up comedians Kanan Gill and Kenny Sebastian, who will be visiting campus on February 12. The concluding event of the fest, ‘Coke Studio’, to be held on February 13, will see a star performance by renowned singer Anushka Manchanda.

 The fest started off with various competitions and one of the main attractions was Saptak, the eastern music solo competition, organised by Samranjini, the Indian Music society of the college. The performances of the participants mesmerized everyone and they garnered excellent reviews from the judges and audience alike. The first position was grabbed by Pavithra Chari from Lady Shri Ram College for Women and the runner up was Saptak Chhatopadhyay from Hansraj College. The society also organised the Indian Music Instrumental Competition and the Carnatic and Hindustani Music Competition. The much-awaited Dramatics competition, Nivacanna, hosted by the Dramatics Society, Upstage, saw breathtaking performances by the partcipating teams. SRCC’s production ‘Pune Highway’ bagged the first position, followed by Ramjas College’s production ‘The Open Couple’ emerging as the runner-up. QED, the Debating Society, hosted English Turncoat, an exciting form of debate where the participants were required to propose and oppose the same motion during their speech. The Hindi version of Turncoat will be organised on February 13. Other events that took place on Day 1 included Hindi Creative Writing, Hindi Extemporé, India Quiz and Paper Cutting competiton. Iris, the Photography society of the college, apart from the online competition, also hosted an on-the-spot Photography competition where the participants are required to click pictures related to the given themes within the campus during the course of 3 days. The first day was concluded with a Choreo Night.

 Besides the formal events hosted by various societies of the college, the fest also has a number of interesting events like Beg Borrow Steal, Overacting, Bad Dancing and Bon Appètit lined up. Beg Borrow Steal, held on Day 1, saw massive participation from students.

The campus was filled with enthusiastic students looking forward to enjoy themselves as Reverie 2k15 is one of the first fests of the season. The fest had the Columbus ride where students were seen having a good time. Also, many were seen hanging around the college canteen and food stalls as the students believe that food is an important part of any celebration.

All in all, the first day of Reverie 2k15 was an enthralling affair and garnered exuberant reactions from all.
