“Fare thee well, and if forever. Still forever, fare thee well.”
-George Gordon Byron
The Farewell ceremony signifies the practice of bidding adieu to the third year students in the college, Although it is for the girls to leave a place which has been a second home to them for three years, it is necessary to do so for the commencement of a new chapter.
April 22, 2014 was the day assigned for the farewell of the senior most students of Janki Devi Memorial College. The batch of 2014 entered, all girls dressed up in scintillating saris and suits. Dressed gracefully they made their way into the college auditorium.
The theme decided for the event was cultural diversity. The program was compered by Pratiksha Pathak and Shristi. Dr. Indu Anand, the principal of the college addressed the gathering and expressed her good wishes to the students. The college president Tripta Sharma talked about her days on college and how indebted she feels towards the college. A special program was put up by the senior teachers as well as the junior teachers of the college. This was followed by an ebullient dance performance by Nritya, the western dance society of JDMC. A fashion show was organized by the Arts society. A scrumptious lunch was relished by the staff, the departing students and the members of the students’ Union. Various titles were given to the myriad show stoppers. The students danced gracefully to the tunes played by the DJ until everyone was debilitated, which marked the end of the program.
