The Gala 55th Annual Day Celebrations at JDMC

Janki Devi Memorial College witnessed a gala celebration on its 55th Annual Day on April 1, 2014 in the college campus celebrating the theme of ‘Cultural Diversity’. The event started with the ‘Lighting of the Lamp’ ceremony followed by the college prayer. Mr. Tiber Kovacs; Director, Hungarian Information and Cultural Centre, was the Chief Guest for the celebrations presided over by Mr. T.N. Chaturvedi; Former Governor of Karnataka and Kerala.
Dr. Indu Anand ; Principal, Janki Devi Memorial College delivered an inspiring speech to the young lot of women present in the auditorium, mentioning the college achievements and putting light on the academic as well as non academic milestones set by the college students. The annual college magazine, Janki was also unfolded and was distributed amongst the Chief Guest, Guest of Honor, staff members and students. The celebrations further gained momentum when members of Nritya, the Dance society of the college performed a spectacular dance piece including folk dances from various regions of the country, further adding onto the theme of ‘Cultural Diversity’. Finally, the event concluded by honoring the various winners of inter college events and the toppers from all the departments. A gala lunch was also organized by the college to all the staff members and students.
The Annual Day celebrations made the students introspect more into the theme of ‘Cultural Unification in Diversity’ in the current disturbed Indian political scenario and make wise choice as they in future make up the ‘Young India’.
