A Recap of DU fests – A Guide to your Fest List 2014

New year again brings the excitement of fests to the campus life in Delhi University. Every new year, each college in particular tries to bring different things for students and guest visitors ranging from exciting stalls, competitions and star performances.
Students, teachers and volunteers work in full spark to make their fest, the best in the whole university. Each college tries to bring out the best, in every way they can. As the winter season starts to get down the horizon, the spring sun brings with it the colorful season of fests in colleges, with the freshers greatly excited about it and the seniors expecting it to be better than the previous fests. It’s like there is a great aura of energy, colors and fun in the air.
2013 was a great year, as the most happening fests took place and a number of great star shows, concerts and plays were showcased by the top colleges of Delhi University. Here is a list of some fests that remained the talk of the town for a whole year, with superb star nights and other attractions like stalls, competitions and plays.
All these fests brought the color of life and added spice to the festive season , and everyone was trying to hop into these most happening fests of DU, as many of them were clashing in the calendar dates.

This is one of the most popular college fests of the South Campus, the annual fest of this all-girls’ college kicked off with Bollywood singer Kailash Kher melodizing his popular numbers last year. On the concluding day of the fest, Indian rock band Parikrama took over the stage. Other events at the campus included street play and a western dance as well.

Ullas: Kamala Nehru College (Feb 1 – 2/2013)
The star show of this fest was the contest held by the fashion society of the college. The fest saw a performance by pop and hip-hop band, Bombay Rockers. Several other events took place like Adagio — the choreography competition and the Battle of Bands.

Hindu college always brings up the best in stalk of glitz and showbiz and last year, it showcased double fun with not one but two celeb performances. It was held around early Feb, last year.

Crossroads: Shri Ram College of Commerce( Feb 15-18/2013)
Living up to its name of being in news for its celebrity performances, SRCC’s four-day fest included Bollywood hunks ramp walking and dancing on the stage, and star struck students shouting in excitement. It also brought out various competitive events, which saw huge participations in large numbers from various colleges of the varsity.

Montage: Jesus and Mary College(Feb 23 – 24/2013)
Last year a national level debating competition was  held during the fest. Other events that were lined up in the fest were paintball,food stalls and T-shirt painting competition.

Nexus: Sri Venkateswara College( Mar 7 – 9/2013)
This fest was just so full of energy, one of the most popular band performed in the dj night and other events that were lined up in the list included sufi singing , street plays and battle of the bands. It was a rocking event and a much popular one for the year 2013.
College fests like Tarang (LSR), Confluence (Hansraj) and Shruti (IP College) were also included in topping the appreciation list.
As its 2014 already and the festive season is knocking our doors , all of us sound much excited for the great events and want to enjoy the most happening phase of college life – the fests. The first years’ seem to be immensely excited for all the great events lined up specially for the celeb and music events while students are eagerly working hard to bring out the best for their colleges , in this cut throat competition of having the best event among all.
Though the calenders for the upcoming fests haven’t been updated yet, but the excitement is on a high. Everyone seems ready to gear up and do all the “Masti”, and all you first years there , it’s your first one live it to the fullest.
