Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies was back with another edition of its annual cultural festival, Crescendo, held on March 11-12 at Dilli Haat, Janak Puri. With a variety of events compiled in a fun filled and energetic packaging, it was an enthralling affair as the CBSites geared up for two days of excitement, a welcome break from the corporate and competitive culture of the college.

The first day of the event had loads of interesting competitions ranging from StockBall, organised by Mark-It: The Marketing Society, to Ecomiser, organised by Ecovision: The Economics Society and the Kavi Sammelan. Battle of the Bands, organised by Dhwani: The Music Society, received amazing response as the performers mesmerized both the judges and the audience. The highlight of the event was the performance by The Hansraj Projekt with their original compositions, Lapse and Tipsy. The first edition of Alla Prima, The Art Fest, organised by Kriti: The Fine Arts Society, was held as a part of the fest and it saw massive participation in all of its events including the Rangoli and Doodling Competition. Perorate, organised by Rennaisance: the Debating Society, had an interesting format of a one-on-one knockout debate with cash prizes up to Rs. 12,000 while Sherlock Your Way Out: The Scavenger Hunt, conducted by Management Interaction Cell engaged the participants with its off-beat tasks, with Shivangi Goel and Prasanna Mandal emerging as winners. The highlight of the first day was definitely the play “Finding Shammi”, the annual production of Verve- The Street Play Society, appreciated by the students, teachers and tourists attracted by the actors singing “Halla Bol”. What followed was a fruitful discussion and a lesson learned by the audience regarding the issue of religion and individual identity.

As evening approached, both the audience and their enthusiasm grew as people gathered to witness Encore: The Western Dance Competition organised by Blitz- The Dance Society. The competition opened with a Belly dance and Odissi fusion performance by Jyotsna Borgoyary, professional belly dancer and choreographer at the renowned Banajara School of Dance. It was followed by a face off among one participant from each team who had to dance impromptu on the song played. The winner of the face off was Mokshda from Mudra: Western Dance Society, Jesus and Mary College. The shortlisted teams then performed their dance numbers, with Verve- The Dance Society of Sri Venkateswara College bagging the first position and Dance Society, Lady Shri Ram College for Women bagging the second position. Encore was followed by the EDM Night by Progressive Brothers, Vh1 Supersonic, who made everyone swing to their beat.

With many spectacular performances by the students and the special night by Vh1 Supersonic, the first day ended on a high note with the audience geared up for more action on the next day of Crescendo ’15.
