Last year the Delhi University introduced a course named Bachelor with honors in management studies (BMS). It is a four year under graduate programme course with a total of 840 seats which focuses on analytical and logical oriented studies. The admission in the course is not solely based on marks obtained in class 12th but also takes into account a common entrance test (CET).The percentage of marks required for different categories in class 12th are: General/OBC: At least 60%, SC/ST: At least 50%, CW/PWD: At least 54%. This year the CET will be held on 26th June 2014. The CET is of 2 hours and is an objective type test of 100 multiple choice questions.  There are 4 sections, Quantitative Ability, Reasoning & Analytical Ability, General English and Business & General Awareness carrying 300 marks in total. For each correct answer the candidate is awarded 3 marks and for each wrong answer there is negative marking of 1 mark. Last year students were also required to clear a personal interview but from this year onwards it has been removed. The result of the CET will be declared on 4th July 2014.
The course is offered by only six colleges of the University namely, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Shaheed Sukhdev College Of Business Studies, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharaja Agrasen College, College Of Vocational Studies And B R Ambedkar College. The students can choose a field to specialize in at the onset of the 2nd year. Specialization can be done in Marketing, Finance, HRM, Management of Services, Management of global business & Tourism Management.
BMS is a good option for students as after the graduation in the course they can pursue various management oriented courses including MBA. One can also opt for a career in sales and Marketing, Finance, Research and Development (R&D), Human Resource Management, jobs in PSUs banks etc.
